A reserved matters application for a residential development of 205 new homes near Wellington in Somerset has been approved by Somerset West and Taunton Council.
Pegasus Group provided planning and design services for the scheme, on behalf of Bovis Homes, to deliver a high quality, sustainable development on the 10.45 hectares site that lies to the south western edge of the village of Rockwell Green.
Designer for the scheme, Jessica Frapwell of Pegasus Group’s Bracknell office, said: “The layout follows the principals of the Illustrative Framework Plan established at the outline application stage, and includes a generous area of open space containing two equipped play spaces, landscaped buffers and sustainable urban drainage features.
“The proposed homes include a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses, plus a single apartment building which has been carefully detailed to provide an attractive landmark building.”
The package of planning obligations for the proposal has been secured through a Unilateral Undertaking. This includes the provision of 25% of all dwellings as affordable housing tenure, which equates to 51 units. Of these, 5 will be built to fully wheelchair accessible standards. Other benefits delivered by the scheme include the implementation of a travel plan, the issue of green travel vouchers to new residents worth around £45,000 and the provision of bus stops on Exeter Road.
