HubCap receives approval for aparthotel conversion plans

HubCap has received planning permission for the conversion of a warehouse on Water Street, Leith, into a 45-room aparthotel.

The Water Street redevelopment, which was designed by Glasgow-based architects O’DonnellBrown, is the first HubCap site to gain planning approval.

The existing architecture of the 1950s building will be enhanced with a single storey metal-clad roof extension, a single storey side brick extension and a landscaped courtyard space.

Andrew Cusack, development manager at HubCap, said: “We are excited to receive planning approval for our scheme on Water Street, which will deliver high-quality accommodation in the heart of Leith. By repurposing the existing building, not only will we make significant savings in embodied carbon, but we’ll also preserve the all-important industrial character of the building that’s so fundamental to the area’s identity. Our sustainable and innovative approach to design will ensure that the development not only enhances the local area but also provides a unique guest experience."
