Five UK projects shortlisted as finalists for MIPIM 2022 Awards

Five development projects from the UK have been shortlisted for the prestigious MIPIM Awards 2022 and will be judged by attendees to the annual event in Cannes alongside 46 projects from 21 countries around the world.

The shortlist of finalists for the MIPIM Awards, an international real estate competition for completed or yet to be built projects around the world, were selected by a 13-member jury.

The five finalists representing schemes from the UK are:

  1. Borough Yards, London, a development by MARK, which has been shortlisted for the Best Urban Project award
  2. Native Land’s Bankside Yards in London, shortlisted as a finalist for the Best Futura Project award (illustrated above)
  3. Southworks, London, by developer MiddleCap, has been shortlisted for the Best Office & Business Development
  4. UOL Group’s One Bishopsgate Plaza in London, a finalist in the Best Mixed-Use Development category
  5. Panattoni’s “Amazon Swindon BTS”, which has been shortlisted for the Best Industrial & Logistics Development

In addition to the five developments from the UK, seven projects from France were shortlisted, six from Italy with six projects, three each from Belgium and Denmark and three from the USA, and two from both China and Spain.

The jury, chaired this year by François Trausch, Global CEO & CIO of Allianz Real Estate, reviewed hundreds of entries and shortlisted the finest projects in each of the 12 competition categories. For the 2022 awards, in addition to the usual criteria, the jury also looked at how the project adapts to the consequences of the pandemic on the way people live, work, shop and entertain themselves.

The winners will be announced at the MIPIM Awards ceremony, in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals of Cannes, on 17 March.

François Trausch, said:"The projects selected for the 2022 MIPIM Awards largely followed this year's MIPIM theme of ‘driving urban change’ not only by being more sustainable, but also being more accessible and enjoyable. What impressed the Jury most was the diversity and creativity of the projects submitted, a hallmark of our European cities and an important factor for buildings that are developed today for tomorrow's communities."
