Gerald Eve has strengthened its capabilities with the recruitment of John Arbuckle to lead a new aviation team within its transport and infrastructure group.
John joins as a partner from Heathrow Airport, where he has been head of property since 2017. He will be advising clients from the aviation and related sectors on all aspects of real estate strategy.
His recruitment comes at a time when aviation is facing challenges not only around post-pandemic operations, but also the need to shift towards more environmentally sustainable practices. The sector will also have a vital role to play as part of the ‘levelling up’ and ‘build back better’ agendas.
Transport and infrastructure are areas of strategic focus for Gerald Eve, with John’s arrival part of a wider programme of investment to expand its capabilities. The firm’s expertise in the sectors includes: valuation; planning; development; investment; leasing; and business rates.
John Arbuckle, partner and head of aviation at Gerald Eve, said: “This is a challenging yet exciting time for aviation, with the impacts of COVID-19 and sustainability targets creating opportunities to reshape property portfolios to meet future needs. I look forward to working with the Gerald Eve team to give clients the dynamic, innovative advice they need.”
Keith Norman, partner at Gerald Eve, said: “As the UK emerges from lockdown, transport and infrastructure not only has new challenges to overcome, but will be a central part of the recovery across all regions. John’s experience in the sector is second-to-none, and his arrival will enable us to both broaden and deepen the level of advice we are able to provide to clients.”
