Hurlands sets out its five-year expansion plan and begins search for major sites across the South East

Hurlands Pickleball and Padel Club has begun a targeted search for new sites across the South East, following strong early interest in its flagship Farnham club, which opens in early 2026.

The business is aiming to open five new clubs over five years and is now seeking opportunities from landlords, asset managers, agents and potential investment partners. In a further boost to the expansion plans, Hurland’s team has been joined by Jeremy Phillips, the former director and head of property at The Gym Group plc, who will support on-site acquisitions.

Hurlands will consider freehold acquisitions, but generally seeks long-term leases and is seeking buildings of 30,000 sq ft or more, with a minimum six-metre clear height, ample parking and strong accessibility. The search area runs from West London to Reading, Oxford, Winchester and Kent, focusing on well-connected locations with the scale to accommodate indoor courts, social spaces and the club’s wellness and fitness offer.

Philip Newborough, executive chairman & co-founder of Hurlands, said: “We have a clear growth plan and the first site in Farnham has shown just how much appetite there is for these sports when you bring them together under one roof. The next phase involves finding the right buildings in the right locations, which is why we are expanding our search and initiating conversations with landlords and agents across the region.

“We are also open to speaking with investors and partners who share our belief that pickleball and padel can reshape the UK’s leisure landscape. These are inclusive sports that appeal far beyond traditional racket-sport audiences, and we see significant potential for long-term, community-focused clubs in accessible urban and suburban locations.”

The business is reviewing former industrial, retail and leisure buildings, along with opportunities for conversions or repurposing. Flexibility on layout and the ability to deliver high-quality courts, viewing areas and social facilities are central to the brief.

Hurlands’ Farnham club will be the UK’s largest indoor pickleball and padel venue when it opens in early 2026, with 14 courts and a wider mix of wellness, fitness and hospitality spaces.
