Sovereign Centros, the development manager for the proposed regeneration of Leisure World in Southampton, has unveiled its initial outline plans for one of the city’s most significant regeneration projects in over two decades. A digital consultation is now live, running until Friday 12 June.
The new proposals will deliver a modern mixed-use complex including a cinema, casino and hotels, in addition to new homes, leisure uses and offices. The plans for the site, which sits within the Mayflower Quarter, will be centred around high-quality public realm, linking a new urban quarter with the wider city and improving connectivity with the historic waterfront.
The digital consultation, the first of its kind and necessitated by current lockdown measures, will enable Southampton residents and the wider community to view and provide feedback on the proposals from the comfort of their homes. A website will provide an opportunity to review and comment on the new Leisure World plans, with members of Sovereign Centros and its design team also being available to discuss the development in more detail.
The regeneration seeks to create a sustainable and thriving urban community, whilst acting as a catalyst for further growth opportunities within the city of Southampton.
It is important that the public help shape this development proposal before it is submitted as a planning application, which will be considered through the usual planning process.
