Mixed-use scheme delivers 180 homes and new retail spaces
London developer Astir has completed its £120 million mixed-use development, West Hampstead Central, in West End Lane next to West Hampstead’s Underground, Thameslink and Overground stations.
The scheme comprises 180 apartments, including 86 affordable homes which have been handed over to housing provider A2 Dominion.
As well as delivering new homes, the project, the ground floor features a range of purpose-built retail units now occupied by several well-known brands, including Amazon Fresh, burger chain Five Guys, Italian gelato retailer Amorino, and Buzz, an independent coffee shop.
Nic Simpkin at Astir said: “This project hasn’t been without its challenges; our construction contractor fell into insolvency mid-way through the build, but the experience, strength and ability of our team was illustrated in the way we pulled together to surmount this issue and produce such a high-quality finished product.”
