Martin’s Properties is delighted to welcome the home decor retailer, Graham & Brown, to the Kings Road. Graham & Brown has secured a new 10-year lease to open its first physical retail outlet at 187 Kings Road in London’s Chelsea.
Previously trading online only, the fourth-generation family business - one of the UK’s oldest and most respected home décor providers – is primarily known for their bold and vibrant wallpaper designs, as well as offering paint, artwork, soft furnishings and textiles.
Located in a prime spot in the heart of Chelsea, 187 Kings Road provides 1,102 sq ft of retail space with ancillary storage in the basement. The unit forms part of a larger holding for Martin’s Properties from 183 to 209 Kings Road, acquired by the family business in 1988.
The deal demonstrates the ongoing trend of ‘clicks to bricks’ whereby online retailers seek a physical, experiential and sensory presence for shoppers as a showcase for their products.
Brook Stotesbury, Head of Commercial Asset Management and Investment at Martin’s Properties, comments: “Following a growing trend of online retailers setting up a physical presence on the high street, this established retailer can now benefit from further brand visibility and customer interaction to showcase their quality products, taking advantage of an excellent local neighbourhood catchment. The deal also underpins that omnichannel retail strategies that adapt to changing consumer habits will continue to be the winners of the sector.”
Richard Bourne, CEO at Martin’s Properties, comments: “We are delighted to welcome Graham & Brown to 187 Kings Road and look forward to working with them to drive footfall and sales. As a family owned business, it is great to welcome another family business with an excellent track record to the portfolio. We are confident they will make the unit a success and add to the vibrant, diverse offer on the Kings Road.”
Iona Graham of Graham & Brown says: “Opening our flagship London showroom on the King’s Road marks a significant milestone for the brand, and we’re delighted to be bringing Graham & Brown to one of the most iconic roads in London in this exciting new chapter in our brand story. Our flagship showroom embodies our design-led philosophy, offering customers the chance to experience the quality of our products firsthand, supported by our expert in-store team.
As a fourth-generation family business, I believe my great-grandfather, Harold Graham, and his best friend, Henry Brown, would be immensely proud of what Graham & Brown has achieved, the result of nearly 80 years of innovation and craftsmanship.”
