Geopolitical risk tops EXPO REAL property agenda in Munich
Long-time Munich Security Conference chairman Wolfgang Ischinger will assess how global conflict and shifting power dynamics are affecting real estate markets.
Geopolitical uncertainty and its impact on international property markets will be a central theme of the EXPO REAL conference programme when the real estate trade fair takes place in Munich next month.
The programme features more than 200 panels and over 650 speakers across the three days, spread over nine stages and forums. A new forum, InfrastructureNow, will focus on energy, defence and digital infrastructure.
The conference opens on 5 October with a panel of international investors examining whether Europe remains an attractive real estate market and where action is needed. Speakers include Martin Towns of M&G Real Estate, Michael Neal of Savills Investment Management, Brad Gries of LaSalle Investment Management and David Green-Morgan of ANREV.
Later in the day, Prof Dr Moritz Schularick, president of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, will give an overview of major global economic developments and their impact on Germany. His session will cover the strengths and weaknesses of the real estate market and the policy reforms required.
On 6 October Wolfgang Ischinger will present "Geopolitical Risks: Security in Uncertain Times" at the Investment Forum. He will examine the effect of global wars and conflicts, strategic rivalries among major powers and changing power dynamics on the markets. According to the organisers, his presentation will argue that stability can no longer be taken for granted and must be actively fostered.
Claudia Boymanns, exhibition director of EXPO REAL, said: "The EXPO REAL conference program highlights the key challenges facing the real estate industry, from developments in Germany and international markets to concrete solutions and technological innovations. It provides a platform for professional exchange, diverse perspectives, and forward-looking debates, and offers the industry guidance in this challenging market environment."
