Two property schemes in the UK have been included in the shortlist of finalists for the prestigious MIPIM Awards.
Grainhouse, a former Victorian seed warehouse in London, that has been reimagined into a 91,000 sq ft prime office and retail space, along with One North Quay in Canary Wharf, London - a joint venture between Canary Wharf Group and Kadans Science Partner - are among the 40 finalists in various categories that will be selected at the international conference in March.
This year's jury has put a strong emphasis on projects aligning with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals, focusing on sustainability, community integration, user experience quality, economic impact, originality, and architectural merit.
Among the diverse array of categories, such as Best New Development and Best Cultural, Sports, and Education Project, two UK schemes have emerged as notable finalists.
The finalists, representing 20 countries, underline the global scale of the competition, with France leading the nominations. The winners will be decided through a combination of jury and delegate votes, culminating in an awards ceremony on the 14th of March at Cannes' Palais des Festivals.
This year’s MIPIM Awards, with its focus on sustainability and innovation, not only celebrate architectural excellence but also underscore the real estate industry's commitment to future-ready development. The inclusion of Grainhouse and One North Quay in the list of finalists underscores the UK's significant contribution to this global dialogue.
MIPIM Awards Jury Chairman, François Trausch, said: “It’s been truly inspirational to review the 209 project proposals from 39 countries. This year the theme of transformation has been particularly strong. Reimagining existing buildings into new concepts which meet future needs is something that all of us in real estate should be inspired by.”
MIPIM takes place on 12-15 March in Cannes, France.
