EGLS enters Spanish logistics market with new Madrid and Barcelona offices

Pan-European logistics real estate firm strengthens southern European presence

European Green Logistics Space (EGLS) has announced an expansion into Spain, opening new offices in Madrid and Barcelona as part of its strategy to grow its sustainable logistics portfolio across Europe.

The move, announced during Expo Real in Munich, marks the company’s first entry into Southern Europe and follows its operations already established in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia and Poland.

The Spanish business will be led by Thierry Bougeard, who joins as head of operations. Bougeard brings 35 years of industrial real estate experience and was previously Head of Iberia Industrial and Logistics at Trammell Crow Company. He is joined by Jean-Bernard Gaudin as Head of Investment and Occupier Search. Gaudin was formerly Director of Logistics and Industrial at BNP Paribas Real Estate in Spain.

Ian Worboys, CEO of EGLS, said: “Spain represents one of the most compelling logistics real estate markets in Europe today. The combination of demand growth, infrastructure strength and the shortage of modern green stock makes it a perfect fit for EGLS. With Thierry and Jean-Bernard leading our expansion, we look forward to building a significant and sustainable presence in Spain.

“This expansion is part of our commitment to build a truly pan-European network of sustainable logistics assets that serve occupiers’ needs and deliver long-term value for investors.”

Spain is viewed as one of the most attractive logistics markets in Europe, driven by growing occupier demand and increased investment. The supply of modern, sustainable logistics space remains limited, particularly in key hubs such as Madrid and Barcelona.

EGLS’s business model focuses on upgrading logistics assets to meet high sustainability standards, as well as developing new energy-efficient facilities.
