• The first two buildings at the £2.5bn Thameside West scheme in Newham will be 100% social rent.

Arada has submitted planning applications to the London Borough of Newham for the first stage of Thameside West, its £2.5bn regeneration scheme in the Royal Docks, east London.

Building on an existing hybrid planning permission, the first stage comprises nearly 1,500 homes across six buildings. The first two will be 100% social rent and will include three- and four-bedroom family homes.

The site spans more than 47 acres.

The plans include a seven-acre park, around 1,000 new trees, a kilometre of active waterfront and a riverside walk along Bell Lane.

Arada is progressing designs with Transport for London for a new DLR station, intended to open in time for the arrival of the site's first residents.

The scheme is being brought forward in partnership with the Greater London Authority's Royal Docks Team. Gensler, Arup and landscape architects Planit are advising.
