Vapiano, the restaurant chain which offers pizza, pasta and salads at seven locations across the UK has been rescued following the appointment of Allan Graham and Matthew Ingram of Duff & Phelps as Administrator.
The appointment and subsequent sale of five of the seven sites were concluded as a result of a pre-pack administration that took place on 30 June 2020. Vapiano was a subsidiary of the German restaurant franchise company headquartered in Cologne, Vapiano SE, which was first established in 2002.
On appointment the Administrators concluded two transactions, the sale of three restaurants in London to UK VAP Limited, a subsidiary of LOVE & Food Restaurant Holding, and a further two sites in Manchester and Edinburgh to Husnell Ahluwalia and Naveen Handa.
“This is an exciting investment towards the hospitality industry’s future,” says Husnell Ahluwalia, Director of Dominvs Group. “As a company, we are always on the lookout for great opportunities led by quality teams and this is a huge opportunity to look ahead at rebuilding an industry which has faced very challenging times recently.”
The transactions secure the future of 209 jobs, a welcome result during a time of economic uncertainty. “This has been a great outcome for Vapiano and its employees. We are delighted we have been able to help safeguard the future of Vapiano UK and many of its workers” comments Naveen Handa, Director of Cairn Hotel Group.
