Applications for the 2027 programme, themed "Challenge the Unchallengeable", close on 16 October.

MIPIM has launched its Challengers Alumni Network as applications open for its 2027 Challengers programme. Once the next cohort is selected, the network will include more than 100 emerging leaders from across the built environment.

The 2027 programme is themed "Challenge the Unchallengeable". Applicants are being asked to identify an accepted belief or convention in the built environment that should be questioned. In around 200 words, they must explain what should change, why it matters and what impact a different approach could have. Each application must be endorsed by a senior professional.

Successful applicants will receive a Full Pass to MIPIM 2027, reserved places at selected roundtables, and a series of workshops and webinars. Each will also interview a C-level executive from their organisation for publication on MIPIM's channels.

The programme launched in 2024. It has drawn participants from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium and other countries.

Nicolas Boffi, director of MIPIM, said: "One of the lessons I have learned from real estate is that many of the industry's biggest changes start by questioning something that was once seen as obvious. The rise of data centres, flexible living, branded residences or new forms of private capital would have looked like niche topics not so long ago. Today they are shaping investment decisions around the world.

"That is why this year we are asking applicants to challenge something that many people take for granted. Real estate moves forward when people are prepared to look at familiar problems differently. We are looking for people who are ready to do exactly that.

"Reaching 100 members in our alumni network is an important milestone. It means we now have a community that extends well beyond a single edition of MIPIM. Challengers stay connected, exchange ideas, and build relationships across borders and disciplines. Those connections will matter throughout their careers."

Applications close at 11:59pm CET on 16 October 2026. MIPIM 2027 takes place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes from 16 to 19 March.
